Master Sergeant (MSgt), United States Air Force retired, Scott Griggs (left) and Master Sergeant (MSgt), United States Air Force retired, Gil Harbach (right) have been selected as Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) Outstanding Instructors for 2017 by Headquarters, AFJROTC, Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama.
Colonel Bobby Woods, AFJROTC Director, said, “I am very pleased to announce the 2017 AFJROTC Outstanding Instructor Awards. Those selected represent the “Best of the Best” in AFJROTC. Please accept my sincere appreciation to all of you for the dedication, hard work, and investment you have put into the AFJROTC program and into our cadets. You have my deepest appreciation for setting the highest example of Air Force Core Values which are crucial to the success of the AFJROTC mission.”
MSgt (E-7) Griggs is a twenty-two year Air Force veteran and came to Mitchell County High School in January 2008. He has been an AFJROTC Aerospace Science Instructor (ASI) since retiring from the Air Force in 2001. This is Sergeant Griggs’s thirty-eighth year wearing the Air Force blue uniform in service to his country.
MSgt (E-7) Harbach is a twenty year Air Force veteran and came to Mitchell County High School in September 2006. He has been an AFJROTC Aerospace Science Instructor (ASI) since that time and is in his thirty-fourth year wearing the Air Force blue uniform in service to his country.
Only fifteen AFJROTC instructors in the state of Georgia and one hundred seventy-three AFJROTC instructors nationwide were chosen for this distinct honor. Almost two thousand AFJROTC instructors serve in more than eight hundred eighty units worldwide.
