The Leo Club is off to a good start. Leo stands for Leadership, Experience and Opportunities. As members of Mitchell County High School Leo club, students are learning what it means to be a Leo. With a focus on community involvement at its center, students will be working this year to build relations with members inside of our community through volunteering and community outreach. Students will be involved in many projects throughout the year, but our main project will be helping supply foster children with duffle bags or luggage. Students will participate in fundraising activities to help fund this project.
The Leo Club’s first meeting was held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 in the MCHS auditorium. Students learned about the goals and purpose of the Leo Club, while also being educated about its sponsor group, the Lion’s Club, from Mr. Robert Davidson and Mr. Mel Jones, Jr. After orientation, students convened to the cafeteria to complete their first service project of painting rocks (shown below) which were placed around downtown Camilla on Monday, September 25, 2017. Be on the lookout for these rocks and the other great things to come from the students of MCHS’ Leo Club! Any students in grades 9-12 interested in joining the Leo Club, please see Mrs. L. Santos or Mrs. N. Knight at MCHS.
