On October 17 and 18, the MCHS Eagle’s Media team (advisors Beau Sherman and Leigh Twitty and students Wendy Escalante and Edgerin Williams) traveled to Moultrie to the Sunbelt Ag Expo and produced the 3rd Annual Ag Youth Symposium held on October 18. On October 17, the students used their press credentials to conduct radio interviews for WMCZ LP 94.5 FM, the school's radio station. ........
Master Sergeant (MSgt), United States Air Force retired, Scott Griggs (left) and Master Sergeant (MSgt), United States Air Force retired, Gil Harbach (right) have been selected as Air Force Junior ROTC (AFJROTC) Outstanding Instructors for 2017 by Headquarters, AFJROTC, Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama.
The students will be a part of a pilot program called High Impact Mentoring. Our MCHS Dual Enrollment students that attend ASU were chosen as the first group to be a part of this wonderful opportunity. The Honors Students at ASU will serve as Mentors for our MCHS students. Change in MCSS School Calendar:
December 13 and December 14 will be regular school days for students and faculty.
December 21 will start Winter Break; no school.
Senior Financial Aid Night will be held at Mitchell County High School on December 13, 2018 at 5 p.m. Mrs. Angie Wilson, a representative from the Georgia Student Finance Commission will be here to help you complete your FAFSA application online in the Media Center! A parent should attend with their student since information is needed from both of them on the application. See Ms. Brinkley to obtain a checklist of what information you will need to successfully complete the FAFSA. If a parent cannot attend, be sure to send the information with the student to the FAFSA workshop.
Make plans to attend Senior Night to be held on November 15, 2018 at Mitchell County High School 6:00 p.m. in the Cafeteria. Military recruiters and college representatives will be available after the presentation if you would like to meet with them. A representative from JOSTEN's will be present to help you with your Graduation supplies order if needed. We will be covering topics such as the college application process, how to apply for financial aid (grants, loans, and scholarships), and the steps that are involved when completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Mitchell County Schools/Baconton Community Charter Schools will observe the following schedule: Faculty/Staff will report to work on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. If there are issues or concerns that may prevent employees from returning to work, please contact your supervisor. Students will return on Monday, October 22, 2018.
Mitchell County School System's students and employees will return on Monday, October 22. As of Saturday-October 20, Mitchell County Elementary School had no power; therefore, on Monday, the elementary school students/faculty will report to Mitchell County High School.
The Mitchell County School System will be offering those without power/water a place to take a shower and receive a hot meal tomorrow 10/16/18 at the Mitchell County High School from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. You must bring your own towel and toiletries. Children MUST be accompanied by an adult. Transportation will be provided if needed. Please contact Transportation Director Derek Hadley at 229-328-5458 for transportation instructions.
